Sharon Ayre participated in the WAA A-L Members Show.  She had a painting in the Spring Bull Gallery’s show entitled ‘April Fools,’ in Newport, a self portrait at the Newport Art Museum’s Artists Guild, & a watercolor at the Cranston Library with other students of Carol Berren.

Jillian Barber received 1 of 3 Awards of Excellence for her ceramic "Xanadog" at the Mystic Art Center’s Elected Artist Members Show, running thru 5/17.

Mary Jane Cross’s oil "Sing Over Me" appears in the 2008 National Show of the Oil Painters of America, at the Dana Gallery, Missoula, Montana thru May & June. She was also invited to show her work at the recently opened Royal Gallery, 298 Atwells Ave., Providence.

Ann Daum won Honorable Mention in the Newport Art Museum’s Member Show, on display thru May; she also received an Equal Merit Award with 4 other artists in the Art League of RI Associate Members’ show at Gallery 297 in Bristol.

Theresa Girard’s paintings, "Ascension," "La Negra" & "Mademoiselle Pappion," were juried into the South West Florida "Art Focus" show, Bonita Springs. T will teach a Friday Open Studio & 2 art workshops at the Peace Dale Neighborhood Guild. The open studio starts May 9th for 8 weeks. The May 2nd & 3rd workshop will feature "Mixed Media Power Clinic," & on June 13th, all levels of painters will enjoy "Your Power Voice in Paint," a workshop to help find your authentic artistic self! Michael Guertin’s "Noon at Nauset" is in the Province-town Art Association & Museum’s ‘Blue: Members’ Open Exhibition’ thru May 11th. He also has two photo series entered in the 2008 PX3: Prix de la Photographie, Paris. View them at www.px3.fr on p. 15 of the Non-Professional/Fine Art/Other category. You can register to vote for your favorites for the Public Choice Awards.

Ken MacDonald was awarded the Carl & Jane Lynge Prize for metal sculpture at the New Haven Paint & Clay Club’s 107th Annual Juried Exhibit, March 16 - April 6.  Visiti www.kmsculpture.com for more info.

Marion O’Connell won Second Place at the Artists’ Guild of the Newport Art Museum for an intaglio print, "Columns." She has also been juried into the Boston Printmakers, an organization with members from all parts of the United States & Canada. She has twice had work accepted in their North American Print Biennial, one of the most prestigious events in printmaking.

Natalie Pfanstiehl took Third Place for a watercolor at the Artists’ Guild of Newport show.

Hiroko Shikashio had a watercolor accepted in the New England Juried Exhibition at the Cotuit Center for the Arts, Cotuit, MA, thru 5/14. She is also conducting a Japan Cultural Tour; find details at www.hirokoart.com.

Beverly Silva had 2 paintings accepted into the Juried Associate Members’ Show of the Art League of RI, at Gallery 297, Bristol, thru April 27.

Tanya Trinkaus Glass had a pastel accepted in the 2008 Annual Florida Artists’ Showcase at the Art League of Bonita Springs, FL in April. In February, her collage created from recycled newspaper & shells was accepted into the Phoenix Rising juried exhibit of art created from recycled or found objects & in March, she had a figural mixed-media accepted into the juried Members’ Gallery, both at the Naples Art Association, Naples, FL. Finally, last month, she participated in a 4-person show “Works of Four Naples Artists” at the Karen Stone Artist Studio & Gallery.

Eric Wertheimer will have an opening reception for the launch of his book of photographs, Only in South County, A Picturial Journey, at Java Madness on Salt Pond Road in Wakefield on Saturday, 4/26 from 10-noon. Copies of the book will be available for purchase & work will be on display thru 5/15.

WAA Newsletter Submission Guidelines

The deadline for each issue is the 10th of the prior month.  Produced quarterly--starting with June 2008
The Newsletter Editor is Kathi Kolb.
Remember to include as many details as you can, such as: 
  • your name, as you'd like it listed,

  • show/exhibit name, location, and dates,

  • title and medium of work accepted, and 

  • awards received

Dates are particularly helpful: to be sure your information is published in a timely manner, that it will be posted while still relevant, and that it is not removed early.

  • Images are not accepted for this page.  If you'd like to get an example of your work posted on this site, members are encouraged to work to achieve artist-level of membership and sign up for a Three Artist Show at our gallery.  Alternatively, participation in Open Juried & Member Shows and in the WAA Photo Guild will increase the chance that your work might get posted (on the relevant page).  

  • Links are accepted for this page--including sites and galleries where member work is currently showing as well as links to recent WAA shows.  Longer term members' links are posted on Members' Web Sites or Members' Galleries as appropriate.
