Introduction to Drawing -
Felicia Touhey

Learn the basics of drawing or build on what you know in a non-threatening atmosphere. This class is for beginners and those with some drawing experience to explore line, shape and form. You will learn about proportion, perspective and value. Students will develop the necessary knowledge to successfully draw from observation.

A Taste for Possibilities with Watercolors - Susan Klas Wright
Feb 19, 26, March 11, 18 (4 classes)
10 AM - 12:30 PM
We will explore dramatic values, line and shape, color subtleties and color vibrancy using a range of full color and neutrals from complimentary colors. Subjects will range from realistic to semi-abstract. The goal is to step out of our comfort zones in order to bring something new to our work. This class is appropriate for intermediate to advanced students.

Still Life Painting with Oils - Marjorie Ball

In this class you will start with setting up a pleasing and well balanced still life arrangement. You will then plan and execute your painting while learning how to establish value patterns, organize darks and lights, colors and shapes. Drawing, design relationships, color mixing and paint application will be covered as well. This class is suitable for beginner and intermediate levels.

Figure Drawing - William Heydt
Feb 29 - April 11 (6 classes - no class 3/14)

The artist and model is one of the most enduring relationships in art.  This is a class for students to learn to work from live models in a studio setting.  Although this course is designed for beginners, experienced artists are invited to join us and enjoy this drawing experience. Instruction is personalized and geared to each student's abilities.

Mixed Media Collage with Acrylics -

Learn how to layer papers, old artwork and recycled materials through discovery, while welcoming pleasant surprises and planning for desired effect. You will be expertly guided through tearing, cutting, gluing and the use of mediums with acrylic paint. We will focus on composition through color and texture combinations. Appropriate for all levels.

Foundations of Digital Photography -
Cindy Horovitz Wilson

5 - 7 PM
In this class we will explore digital terms, exposure, focusing, white balance, file size and resolution, all the ingredients necessary to understand the basics of technical proficiency. We will practice and become comfortable with the settings on your digital camera through hands on classes, assignments and critique. Learn to make photographs instead of taking photos just in time for the warm weather to begin!

Painting with Pastels - Jeanne Tangney
March 10, 24, 31 & April 14 (4 classes)
2:30 - 5 PM
Using your photo references as a starting point, this class will explore various techniques for creating expressive paintings in pastel. We will start by looking for interesting compositions while simplifying details. Explore your choice of subject, including landscape, still life, florals or portraiture. The fundamentals of pastel painting will be covered in depth with an emphasis on color and value. Classes will include demonstration of methods, materials and techniques as well as plenty of individual attention. This class is appropriate for all levels.

Encaustic Painting - Felicia Touhey
March 10, 17 & 24 (3 classes)
6 - 9 PM
Encaustics are wax based paints that produce a unique surface for painting, layering and combining with many additional materials. The paints are melted and applied with brushes and palette knives and then reheated as subsequent layers are added. It is a medium that encourages play and experimentation. These classes are intended for the beginner who wants to learn the process of encaustic painting or for those who wish to expand their experience with the medium. Instruction will be geared to each individual, their interests and imagery.

Magpie Eclectic - Mixed Media Jewelry

Embrace your inner magpie, and dig out all your treasures. String a necklace or bracelet out of a bit of this and a bit of that and then add some wire to hold it all together. Asymmetry and mixed media are encouraged, but you can use the same techniques to make more traditional designs.
We will cover a variety of techniques such as making your own custom clasps, wire spirals, links, and connections between chains, beads, fiber, ribbon, leather and wire. You'll also learn how to use findings such as headpins, eyepins, jumprings and earwires.
This is a great starting point for anyone who wants to make or mend your own jewelry, or for anyone who wants to learn connection techniques for mixed media. No experience necessary.

Beginning Watercolor - Carole Berren
April 13 - May 18 (5 classes - no class 5/4)
2 - 5 PM
In this class you will explore the use of all watercolor materials, glazing and color theories. You will learn how to create every color using only a 6 color palette. Intensity in colors, edges, washes, transparencies and value relationships will be demonstrated and taught in class. Instruction will be geared to each individual according to their own understandings and experience.

Watercolor Painting on Yupo - 
Carole Berren

10 AM  - 4 PM
Learning to paint watercolor on Yupo (a very slippery surface) is both challenging and also a lot of fun. You really can't make a mistake...no matter how hard you try. Experimenting and exploring are what's important. Results are amazing and will take you further in your painting process. Through many guided exercises and free experimentation you will gain confidence using this exciting painting surface. This class is open to all levels.

Tapestry Weaving - Janet Austin
April 19 - May 10 (4 classes)
9:30 AM - 12 Noon

Tapestry is an ancient weaving technique for creating images. Tapestries can be realistic, abstract or geometric. Some examples are the Unicorn Tapestries and Navajo rugs. 
We will use simple frame looms to learn the basic techniques in class, and students may take take their looms home to work between classes. Information on designing, materials, tools and other resources will also be included. No previous weaving experience is necessary.

Intuitive Art 1 - Theresa Girard

Using intuition, explore contemporary drawing and painting. Combine both physical and contemplative methods in our artwork. Engage the "process" of the painting in the "present" rather than concentrating on the end result. Students will gain knowledge and understanding of spatial structure; arrangement and organization of forms; and the impact of color and rhythm needed to make a work of art complete.
All levels (Some experience with paint helpful)
