Late Afternoon Plein Air Painting -
Trish Hurley
July 19 - August 9 (4 classes)
4 - 6:30 PM
As the sun sets, the exaggerated shadows make for beautiful color and design in the composition for a painter of any medium. Blocking in quick compositions and reactionary painting sets a painting challenge as the sun quickly moves to set. We will start at North Kingstown Beach where I will do a quick demo in oil with a basic palette of the primary colors to get you on your way. Each week we will venture to a new place. Curious and patient beginners are welcome! Acrylic and oil paints may be used. Students should have a plein air easel.

Our first class will start at the North Kingstown Beach where I will do an oil paint demonstration and start you on your way to blocking in tones, building up a quick simple composition and then adjusting color to show atmospheric perspective. Each week will be at a different location. Curious and patient beginners are welcome!

Art Nouveau Painted Textile Art -
Ann Bianchi
Saturday & Sunday
July 30 & 31 (2 classes)
10 AM - 2 PM
Art Nouveau or "New Art", from 1895 to 1905, called for a merging of life to individual handmade styles of art. We will immerse ourselves in the ideas of artist William Morris with abstract paintings on natural silk textiles, trading realism for aesthetic design. Participants choose items from nature for inspiration, identify key design features, create an abstract pattern and paint their design on a silk scarf or silk fabric, which may become a wall hanging.  "Pattern Repetition" will become the mesmerizing energy for the personal textile art to be created.  Come prepared to have fun and let the colors flow with permanent textile paints, dyes and fabric mediums.  The elegant textures of the art materials enhance goals of a unique and interesting design. Samples of display methods and completed work will be introduced. No prior experience needed. All skill levels are welcome.

Textile Art Designs - Ann Bianchi
Saturday & Sunday
October 22 & 23 (2 classes)

Be prepared to be amazed with your results, have fun and witness colors merging together as they take on a life of their own!
